The Joy of Inquiry is a rigorous, discussion-based seminar for students who are eager to push their analytical-reasoning and persuasive-writing skills to the next level. Throughout this course, students will learn the steps involved in thinking and writing with precision: how to develop thoughtful, fresh ideas; how to use drafting and revising as tools for advanced thinking; and how to produce written work that reflects the full nuance of their own insights. This session will explore critical engagement of statistical data. Do numbers ever lie? How can we stress-test data via discussion and debate? How might we perceive logical leaps, fallacies, and imprecise thinking within data-driven arguments?
